Recruiting advisors

Information for advisors; An AUS NZ WELI advisor is an individual of any gender who has achieved leadership position(s) in the anaesthesia, pain medicine or other medical fields and who has a history of successful mentoring in the area of interest/expertise. Advisors have been invited to participate in the program and are volunteering their time. Specific skill sets, interests, and areas of expertise will vary among advisors, as will the goals of the proteges within the program.

AUS NZ WELI strives to pair advisors and proteges who are in similar career paths. Importantly, we will also work to help establish advisor-protege realtionships in which the advisor’s strengths support the protege’s career development goals. Some proteges may have different advisors for different goals. Advisors can also assist each other and work together, if one advisor is busy or has less expertise in a task, another advisor can step in to help the protege. Monthly communication betweeen advisor and protege is a key to success.

Through discussions, advisors will help to guide protege’s based on their own expertise and experiences. Topics can include knowledge/advice about important skills, available resources, conflict resolution, and any other areas of interest.
